Here it is in the order the land falls, with what changes for a locksmith in each part. 1. **Pinar de Campoverde about 160 m** Inland, on a pine-covered rise at the foot of the Sierra de Escalona, about 10 km from the sea. Also called or including: Campoverde, Avenida del Pino, the new part to the west. Villas built from the mid-1980s on, and a newer western part begun in the late 1990s. The streets climb on both sides of the Río Seco, and the older part has some very narrow footpaths, so a pin is worth more than a street name. 2. **Lo Romero** Off the road to Orihuela, between the town and Campoverde. Also called or including: Lo Romero Golf. An 18-hole course that was meant to be the heart of a large estate; a few small developments of apartments and villas have gone up beside it since. 3. **The town about 35 m** Inland of the AP-7, a couple of kilometres from the beaches. Also called or including: Pilar de la Horadada, the centre, Los Ritas, Los Pipas, San Isidro, Bascuñana, La Almazara, Cañada de Práez. Shops, offices, the church of the Virgen del Pilar, and the barrios round them. On Friday mornings the market fills Avenida Camilo José Cela. 4. **The countryside** Between the town, the Sierra de Escalona and the Murcia line. Also called or including: Los Hortelanos, Los Sáez, Lo Ferrer, Los Gracia, Rebate, Lo Monte, La Venta, Los Llanos. Houses scattered among fields and greenhouses, most of them called after a family: Lo Ferrer, Los Gracia, Los Sáez. The name of the house and the nearest camino matter more than a number. 5. **Mil Palmeras sea level** On the coast, north of La Torre, across the bed of the Río Seco. Also called or including: Playa de Mil Palmeras. Beach apartments, bungalows and a good deal of recent building. The dry riverbed sits between it and La Torre, so say which side you are on. 6. **Torre de la Horadada sea level** On the coast, round the 1591 watchtower and the marina. Also called or including: La Torre, Pueblo Latino, Las Villas, Torre Sol, Río Mar, Miramar, Playa Diamante, Las Palmeras, the marina. A mixed centre that fills up in summer, with newer, wider-streeted estates either side of the tower and Pueblo Latino at its northern end. On Wednesday evenings in July and August the market takes over Avenida de la Costa Blanca. 7. **El Mojón sea level** The southern end of La Torre, on the boundary with the Region of Murcia. Also called or including: Playa del Mojón, Urbanización El Mojón. The boundary between the Comunitat Valenciana and Murcia runs through the middle, and some streets belong to two municipalities. Say whether your side is Pilar or San Pedro del Pinatar. ## The urbanizations by their official names As listed in the municipality’s toponymy, published by the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua with the town hall in 2019. Estate agents and signs sometimes shorten them; any version is fine on the phone. - El Mojón - Las Palmeras - Las Villas - Lo Monte - Mil Palmeras - Miramar - Pinar de Campoverde - Pinar de la Perdiz - Playa Diamante - Pueblo Latino - Río Mar - Torre Sol - Residencial Los Ángeles - Residencial Mar Azul - Residencial Pinada del Mar - Villa de los Pinos ### Just beyond the boundary **San Miguel de Salinas** and **Orihuela Costa, southern end** (Dehesa de Campoamor, Lomas de Cabo Roig) are covered too. San Pedro del Pinatar, on the Murcia side of El Mojón, is not. ## How to say where you are **Three postcodes.** The municipality has 03190, 03191 and 03192, so “Pilar de la Horadada” alone could be the town, the coast or Campoverde. Give the area and the street, or the name of the house in the countryside.
